Who we are

Yucca Brevifolia Magazine is the voice of California’s desert communities celebrating the art, music, culture, people, places, and spirit that make the desert extraordinary.

Named after the scientific name of the Joshua tree, Yucca brevifolia, our magazine is rooted in the resilience, creativity, and unmistakable character of the desert landscape.

We tell the stories of the artists, musicians, entrepreneurs, conservationists, makers, and community leaders shaping the High Desert, Low Desert, and beyond. Through thoughtful storytelling and local discovery, we connect residents and visitors with authentic experiences, independent businesses, cultural events, and the people behind them.

More than a magazine, Yucca Brevifolia is a multimedia platform and curated guide to desert life spanning our print publication, editorial website, newsletter, community calendar, social media, and video.

Our mission is simple: inspire exploration, strengthen local connections, support desert communities, and preserve the creative spirit of California’s desert.

Like the Joshua tree itself, Yucca Brevifolia stands for resilience, connection, and discovery inviting readers to experience the desert not simply as a destination, but as a place of inspiration, creativity, and community.
